The following story published in the Jerusalem Post realtes to the cmpassion of the Israeli medical profession irrespective of race, religion or background. Stories such as this confirm the mockery of the Durban II conference recently held.
I wonder if any of the world's press would publish such a story?
"Four months after a wall at a construction site fell on a 51-year-old Palestinian building worker Ali Abu Phar'a and tore out his vocal cords, he can talk again. He was rushed to Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot from the building site in Gedera and found to have holes in his lungs, fractures to the cartilage in his throat and breathing problems.
Dr. Yonatan Lahav of the ear-nose-and-throat department said Phar'a was put under anesthesia and drains were inserted in the chest to release escaping from his lungs. Put into intensive care, he was ventilated. Without urgent care, he would never be able to speak, or breathe through his nose.
As he has no Israeli health insurance, hospital management speeded up approval from the Palestinian Authority to undergo surgery. Lahav and Dr. Moshe Yehuda worked for hours, sewing Abu Phar'a's vocal cords and reattaching him to the cartilage in his throat. The fractures were sit with an internal brace.
A few weeks later, the brace was removed and he underwent rehabilitation for breathing through his nose, swallowing and speaking. The patient no longer needs an external air hole in his throat to breathe, and his voice is almost normal, Lahav said."
Haifa is on the "front line" in any action in the north but this blog looks at life in the shadow of danger to all of Israel

Accusation: Zionism is Racism
With the Durban II conference only days away, the slanderous statement that came out of the first conference is still on the agenda for this second round. and still governments don't have the guts to say "This is not acceptable"
The Reality:
Zionism is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. Zionism began when Jews, like peoples all over the globe, aspired to a country to call their own. They strove to reassert Jewish sovereignty in their ancient homeland.
There is no conflict between the establishment of a Jewish state and the preservation of the rights of all the inhabitants of the land.
Israel's law of return is no different from the laws of return existent in many other states. Yet its law is the only one criticized as racist by countries who, like Jordan, would not allow a Jew to become a citizen even if He/She was born there.
The Facts:
Zionism is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. Zionism began when Jews, like peoples all over the globe, aspired to a country to call their own. They strove to reassert Jewish sovereignty in their ancient homeland.
Zionism came to be after thousands of years of persecution of the Jewish people as a movement to grant them sovereignty over a territory in which they could rule their own destinies without fear from persecution based on their religious beliefs and cultural background. The realization of the Zionist dream came to be with the founding of the State of Israel.
Aside from the facts referred to with regards to legal and social provisions against discrimination and the pluralistic character of Israeli society it must be made absolutely clear that there is no conflict between the establishment of a Jewish state and the preservation of the rights of all the inhabitants of the land. The Zionist ideal was first expressed in Theodor Herzl's book "The Jewish State." And the country he foresaw would be an expression of the highest ideals, in which Jews and non-Jews would live together in peace and equality.
Israel's law of return is often referred to as a major source of criticism. Its detractors state that this piece of legislation reflects a policy of discrimination on the part of the State of Israel in an effort to maintain a prevalence of Jews in the country's demography. Therefore, since a major part of Zionist ideology is constituted by the need for the Jewish people to return to Israel, its detractors state that Zionism is Racism.
Nothing however could be farther from the truth. As Alan Dershowitz states, the law of return
"…should be viewed as a humanitarian law. It followed the immigration waves during Israel's first years that brought Holocaust survivors along with refugees forced out of Arab countries. Since its passage, Jews have been rescued from the repression and Antisemitism of the soviet bloc, from "disappearances" under Argentinean dictators and from famine in Ethiopia."
Moreover, the fact that the law of return exists does not preclude any other person wishing to reside in Israel from applying after having met certain pre-requisites established in law. These pre-requisites are similar to those established by countries such as the United States or France. Additionally, Israel has a long history of opening its doors to those in need of assistance, particularly in extreme cases of peril. Examples of this are 100 Albanian refugees from Kosovo during the Bosnian Civil War or Vietnamese refugees of war received in Israel when no other country would open its doors to them.
In contrast Jordan, a country who also has a law of return, specifically prohibits anyone of the Jewish faith from being a citizen; even in cases of returning Jews born in its soil. Other examples of laws of return that have existed or still exist are Germany and China. Yet, only Israel, which has citizens of virtually every religion, ethnicity, race and national origin, is characterized by its enemies as racist.

Racism Durban Style and Italian Style
With the imminent start of 2009, the infamous Durban II conference gets nearer and nearer. Nothing in the preparation for this conference suggests that it will be any different from the Durban I Israel bashing forum. I would have hoped that by now that more governments would have made the decision to opt out of this fiasco of a conference, but no such luck.
So far only Canada and Israel have made the decision not to participate and the USA and Holland are “threatening” not to participate.
Thus, as so my commentators far more professional than me are writing, the Islamization of Europe is continuing apace. In my simplistic mind I would have thought what has been proposed for the conference in black and white would be sufficient for the governments of the EU to announce as a body their unwillingness to be part of this conference. Ah well, such is the reality of European politics today.
I suppose that many think of my comments as not politically correct, even racist, but as Michael Richards, better known as Kramer from TV's Seinfeld series, said in his defense speech in a US court after making racial comments in his comedy act.
“I'm proud To Be White, there, someone finally said it.
How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.
And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' ... and that's OK.But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner , Gook, or Chink .....You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund the Martin Luther King Day, Black History Month, Cesar Chavez Day.You have BET, if we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives we'd be racists.A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships you know we'd be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US. Yet if there were 'White colleges' THAT would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists. Why is it that only whites can be racists?”
I suppose in Italy there will be calls of racism after the centre-right gov't in Italy,
the only EU country where the elected Gov't rules in full respect of citizens' will as manifested in their clear electoral choice, by gradually erasing the previous Prodi's Left's disastrous policies of indiscriminate immigration which had been responsible for social turmoils and abuses from the growing Islamic contingent ..
The good news now concerns a project of a package of laws regulating future authorizations of Mosquees and of so-called Islamic Centers, representing in reality the perfect Trojan Horse for Islamic propaganda and indoctrination, AND incitement to terrorism - as proved by recent arrest of Moroccan (Italian resident) terrorists planning attacks in Milan and surroundings.
By this body of laws, one of the requirements will be that sermons and speeches shall have to be delivered in Italian language. There's no doubt that one country where good sense and sane minds rule is Italy.
An Italian minister has proposed a register of imams in Italy in order to control the construction of mosques and a referendum to integrate new places or worship in a social and urban context.Andrea Ronchi, European Affairs Minister, and member of the rightist National Alliance party (note: accused of 'fascist tendencies' by the left) proposed the move on Tuesday in what he called a bid to improve interreligious dialogue.
Ronchi also wants to restart dialogue between Muslims and institutions such as the state-backed Islamic Council or 'Consulta per l'Islam'. However, Ronchi said he did not want Italy's largest Muslim group, the Union of Islamic Communities of Italy (UCOII) to take part in the initiative, calling them "the real exponents of non-dialogue".
"We do not speak to those who deny the existence of Israel," he said.
Ronchi announced his proposal after meeting the vice-president of the Italian Islamic Religious Community (COREIS), Yahya Pallavicini.Ronchi said that the existence of new mosques in Italy should be dealt with in a transparent manner and included in a national register. "We need to put a stop to mosques being hurriedly built, without the consensus of the community. We need to match them with the reality of the place," said Ronchi.
The initiative has already been carried out by COREIS, which has trained 20 Italian-speaking imams.Italy's rightist Northern League, allied to Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, wants to limit the growth of Islam and block the construction of mosques through strict new regulations.

Where are the Christian Communities?
I have to say that I find it incredible that more protests are not voiced concerning the ever decreasing population of the Christian community in the Palestinian controlled areas. This week an Israeli human rights lawyer states explicitly that Muslim persecution is the main reason for Christians leaving their homes.
Bethlehem, the cradle of Christianity, a town of 30,000 had a majority of Christians is now barely 20%. The overall picture shows a reduction from 15% overall some 25 years ago to barely 1.5% today. And this story is also repeated over the border in Lebanon. The country which had a significant Christian population is inexorably being taken over by the Muslims.
And with so much apathy prevading the world at large, it is just going to happen unless the Rip van Winkles of this world wake up.
Similarly, the Durban conference of 2001 at which Zionism was equated with Racism, (later rescunded after a major campaign) is to be repeated in 2009 and is likely to be hijacked yet again, as was the first conference by the anti Israel brigade. The motto of BDS (boycotts, divestment and sanctions) will be paramount at this conference chaired by the most honorable members from Libya and backed up as vice chairman by Iran!! What a world we are living in.
